Desperate Housewives TV Show throws light on the different spheres of the lives of a group of close knit housewives. The normal life of these ladies takes a dark turn when one of their closest friends commits suicide. One day, the housewife Mary Alice Young killed herself in the middle of her living room.

Her circle of friends includes Bree Hodge; Martha Stewart, who is fighting with widowhood, alcoholism and revengeful children; Lynette Scavo, who struggles with the complications of work, family issues, cancer; Susan Mayer a divorcee and single mom; newly married Gabrielle Marquez, the ex-model who is unlucky in love; and serial divorcee Edie Britt. The men are: Mike Define, a plumber who is the love of Susan; Lynette’s husband, Tom, Gabrielle’s ex-husband, Carlos; Mary Alice’s widowed husband, Paul who is in prison; Bree’s husband, Orson Hodge. They all try to deal with their own problems and romantic lives. Each year brings on a new mystery and twisted events in their lives. In the first season, the show discloses the mystery that why Mary took her own life. Desperate Housewives is the winner of both the 2005 & 2006 Golden Globe Awards for best Television series.

CARLO — Suburban housewives, a former U.S. president and missing children were honored Thursday night as the 48th annual Monte Carlo TV Festival wrapped at Monaco’s Grimaldi Forum.

ABC/Disney’s “Desperate Housewives” received the third annual Eurodata TV International Audience Award for top drama series. The popular show amassed the highest ratings worldwide for a drama series, with more than 61.5 million viewers across the globe in 2007, beating runners up “Monk” and “Ugly Betty.”

“Desperate Parents” from across the Atlantic also stole the spotlight as France 2’s series received the prizes for best European producer of a comedy series (Guillaume Renouil) and best actress in a comedy series (Isabelle Gelinas).

Best actor in a comedy series went to British actor Richard Ayoade for U.K. series “The IT Crowd,” and Miguel Angel Bernardeau was named best international producer in that category for “Remember When” from Spain.

Bernardeau took the stage again to accept his best European producer of a drama series award for “Missing.” The program’s star, Esther Ortega, took the actress nod in that category. Jonathan Rhys Meyers won the award for best actor in a drama series for “The Tudors.” Mexican Luis Peraza was named best international producer of a drama series for “Capadocia.”

HBO’s presidential drama “John Adams” took the prize for best miniseries, with star Paul Giamatti earning a best actor nod for his eponymous role in the seven-episode miniseries. The U.S. remained in the spotlight elsewhere, with “CSI” winning Eurodata TV’s top global audience award for best drama series. A teary-eyed George Eads accepted the prize on behalf of a show that averaged more than 83.9 million viewers in 51 countries outside the U.S. from June 2007-May 2008.

For weeks, rumors swirled that Sheridan was out of the show. Both ABC and Sheridan’s publicist, Nicole Perna, have been tightlipped in response to inquiries about her imminent departure.

But creator and executive producer Marc Cherry was slightly more forthcoming. Yes, Edie’s gone, he said Friday. Then he added: ‘‘She won’t be back for a few years.’’

What could that mean? Hadn’t Cherry already announced he will bring his series to a close at the end of the 2010-11 season, just three years from now?

‘‘We do three more seasons and then it’s done,’’ he said with a chuckle. ‘‘I will tear down all the sets personally.

‘‘I want to be sure that when we leave the air, people still care.’’

But right now, what viewers really care about is Edie’s future — if any. Could her return in what Cherry carefully described as ‘‘a few years’’ have anything to do with another recent rumor that ‘‘Desperate Housewives’’ will adopt a ‘‘flash-forward’’ narrative device (akin to the storytelling style on ‘‘Lost’’), which could restore Edie to the show as seen a few years hence?

‘‘I only address one rumor at a time,’’ Cherry replied.

Edie bolted on Sunday’s episode when the titular four housewives — Susan, Lynette, Bree and Gabrielle — faced her down after she had pulled one too many schemes against them.

‘‘We’re done,’’ Susan (Teri Hatcher) told her. ‘‘From now on, you are invisible.’’

‘‘And we’re gonna make sure every woman in a 5-mile radius knows the kind of c— you pull,’’ said Gabrielle (Eva Longoria).

Edie tried to apologize.

‘‘Did you hear something?’’ Bree (Marcia Cross) said as the women strode away. ‘‘Neither did I.’’

A few minutes later, viewers saw Edie toss a suitcase into her sports car and drive away.

‘‘A climactic scene,’’ Cherry said.

But as the show nears its two-hour season finale next Sunday, fans are desperate to know: Is Sheridan done? Or is she still part of the show?

‘‘We’ll have to wait until next season and see,’’ Cherry replied.

Justine Bateman, best known for her role as superficial Mallory Keaton on Family Ties is going to join Desperate Housewives. It has been revealed that she will join the series when it will return with new episodes in April and according to the Entertainment Tonight, Justine will appear on the show for a multi-episodes stint. Rumors are there that she will be playing a hip artist living with Gabby Parker and Carlos.

Nothing has been officially announced about her character’s storylines but it’s apparent that she will serve as a spoiler to Carlos and Gabby’s reunion. “Desperate Housewives” will begin airing on Sunday, April 13 at 9 PM with five new episodes and will conclude with a two hour season finale.
