Jeffrey Nordling is new to Desperate Housewives.

The actor, coming off a key role on season seven of 24, joins the cast of ABC hit this fall as the husband of Drea de Matteo’s character. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor said his character - shocker! - has a secret that won’t be revealed right away.

“He is not from these parts,” Nordling said. “He doesn’t really belong [on Wisteria Lane]. There is a dark secret in their past, which you don’t quite figure out in the beginning. But something happened.”

Meanwhile, Andrea Bowen will return in September as Susan’s daughter Julie. Where has she been for the last couple years?

“Technically, I have been at Princeton and then graduate school. I come back with secrets of my own,” the actress said, teasing that Julie has romance in her future: “I think people will be surprised at who Julie ends up with.”

Let’s hope John Barrowman didn’t just jinx himself.

The Torchwood star says he’s in negotiations to play a role on the upcoming season of Desperate Housewives. He sounds quite confident about his prospects to appear on the ABC hit.

During a radio interview last week, Barrowman said he was about to meet up with series writers/producers in Los Angeles to discuss the role. He later posted on his Twitter account:

“Can you believe it, I’m going to be a Desperate Housewife!”

The Scottish actor didn’t say what character he’d play. But we’re guessing it won’t actually be a housewife.

Drea de Matteo might be bringing some attitude to season six of Desperate Housewives, but Jesse Metcalfe is bringing the hotness. The actor will reprise his role of John Rowland, Gabrielle’s boy toy from season one, on this fall’s third and fourth episodes. The character was last seen in 2007, when John married the daughter of a wealthy businessman.

“Now he’s divorced and doing well in a different industry,” creator Marc Cherry told TV Guide Magazine, adding that Gaby’s husband, Carlos, won’t be very pleased to learn that John is single again.

However, this time it’s not necessarily Gaby about whom Carlos has to worry; it’s his niece, Ana (Maiara Walsh).

“When Ana finds out that Gabrielle had an affair with John, she sets her sights on him, which upsets Gabrielle,” said Cherry.

Considering Lynette’s pregnancy, what will happen next season on Desperate Housewives? This is one of the main questions on the minds of viewers everywhere. Will there be a miscarriage, as some have theorized? And how will an impending baby affect husband Tom’s plans to go to college?

We’ll have to tune in if we wanna find out the answers to these questions, but TV Guide Senior Editor Mickey O’Connor can at least confirm that Lynette’s pregnancy will be a critical issue on season six. He also says Tom will not head off to college as a result of this development. Instead, the pregnancy will help position the Scavos to be among the first of the show’s cast to interact with Drea de Matteo’s character and her Italian family. We can’t wait to see that!

Afraid Desperate Housewives would lose its edge without Nicolette Sheridan’s Edie around? You can fuhgettaboutit.

Emmy-winning Sopranos heroine Drea de Matteo is joining the cast as Wisteria Lane’s newest vixenish housewife, sources confirm to me exclusively.

De Matteo, who will be a series regular, will play the matriarch of a new Italian family. Casting is underway for her landscape designer husband and their tightly wound son.

Thoughts? IMHO, this is the second coolest piece of casting of the 2009-10 season (behind Katee Sackhoff joining 24, natch). Agree?

Eva Longoria Parker takes her digital camera and shoots photos of the paparazzi as she leaves LAX on Saturday. Here she is, trying to fly like a normal person, and people are following her around with cameras. But instead of going all Sean Penn on them, she lightheartedly shows ‘em how it feels.

Born on December 9, 1962 in Bedford, New York, actress Felicity Kendall Huffman was raised in Aspen, Colorado with seven siblings.  She was one of seven girls and was originally given the name “Flicka” by her mother until her she had a change of heart.  Now, the whimsical sounding name is only a nickname.  But it is one that could be used to encapsulate the quirky nature and personality of the Felicity Huffman herself as well as the roles and projects she chooses.

Huffman’s acting career started at her high school, the Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan.  There she majored in theater, graduated in 1981 and went on to earn a BFA in Drama from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts in 1988.  From there, Huffman attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.  Huffman established long standing partnerships with two men during her stint on Broadway.  One of them is David Mamet, a playwright and film director whose projects Huffman starred in like the play “Feed the Plow”, the play “Cryptogram” and the comedy movie “Things Change”, which was Huffman’s first film debut.  Also, Huffman at the New York Atlantic Theater Company worked alongside Mamet along with another influential male in her life, her husband William H. Macy.

After work on Broadway, Huffman worked in several T.V. movies with her role as Lady Bird Johnson in “Path to War” being a critically acclaimed performance.   And some of her big screen work included roles in Magnolia and Hackers. Huffman had hit or miss success with television series. She starred in “Sports Night” which only lasted from1998 to 2000 but for which Huffman received SAG and Golden Globe nominations.  She had been fired from the show “Thunder Alley” that had its start in 1994 but she would go on to make guest appearances on shows like “The West Wing” and “Frasier”.

Before reaching superstardom on “Desperate Housewives” in 2004, Huffman had another series vehicle, “Out of Order”, which was on Showtime and also starred her husband.  This show had a short shelf life but it being cancelled allowed for Huffman to end up on the most popular show of her career.  “Desperate Housewives” was the show that lifted Huffman’s profile as an actress higher as well as garnered a whole host of nominations and awards. She has won a SAG award, Golden Globe, and Emmy along with the admiration of tons of new fans of “Desperate Housewives”.

Felicity Huffman had a triumphant return to big screen movies with the indie film 2006’s
“Transamerica”.  In this film that portrayed the life of a transsexual, Huffman delivered a performance that delivered her an Independent Spirit award, Golden Globe, and a Tribeca Film Festival award.

Huffman has had very interesting things to happen in the periphery of her acting career. She had a quirky and brief musical endeavors involving a stint as a background singer for one of Tina Turner’s tour one summer.  This was discussed on an episode of Oprah in 2005.  She also was a background singer for Rebecca Pidgeon on the album New York Girls’ Club.  Additionally, in 2005 she admitted that she was bulimic and anorexic when she was a young actress but that she became healthy through counseling over the years.

Sharing a life with another actor, Huffman had the delightful coincidence of being nominated for an Emmy in the same year that her husband was nominated. They also have two daughters together.  They both continue to have prolific careers in 2007 and Huffman is planning to star again, as Lynette Scavo, in the fourth season of “Desperate Housewives”.
